Is social media a barrier to meaningful communication ? Is it a shallow means of communicating?

Social media is a way for people to communication and share opinions using websites or application. But is it really the right way to communicate? It's not. If your looking for meaningful communication social media is not the way. Social media does allow you to express your opinion on topics you want to speak about, but it can also have a negative affect. With someone who could take your opinion in the wrong context or feel like your opinion is attacking them, you'll end up having more problems. But if you had went face to face to address the problem between you two it would have ended simply instead of it being the big mess it is right now. So in fact social media does become a barrier to meaningful communication that causes more problems then it intends to. Even starting conversations with strangers is in fact dangerous as you never know who you are speaking to over the phone. Though people speak to others they know using social media but that is just a shallow means of communicating. Other's may say they feel shy to speak in person, but sooner or later they are going to have to speak to the person face to face. So when that time comes they are not going to know what to say because for them its easier to talk using social media. That's the reason why social media is a shallow way of communicating. It gives people excuses not the go out and speak face to face, preventing the needs of a healthy relationship. Therefore social media is a barrier to meaningful communication as well as a shallow means of communicating.
